Insurance Rates To Drop In 2015

It almost seems as though the Insurance Commissioner wanted to wish homeowners a Happy New Year. Insurance companies had requested to raise insurance rates by 25.6 percent next year. In response to the request, there was a hearing to present cases from both sides of the battle. After both sides were heard, the Commissioner decided there was no reasoning behind justifying such a large increase. Instead, effective June 1, 2015, homeowner’s rates will go down depending on location and type of coverage. It appears that the average decrease will be somewhere between 8-12%. This is a chart showing the rate changes by territory.  http://www.ncdoi.com/Media/Documents/12-19-14_Homeowners_Rate_Changes_by_Territory.pdf
