Attention Outer Banks Homeowners - Call to Action!

Once again, we find ourselves faced with a significant request from the big insurance companies represented by the NC Rate Bureau (NCRB). They're seeking a massive 42.2 percent increase in homeowners' insurance rates! In a time when homeowners are grappling with soaring property taxes, rising grocery costs, and other essential expenses, this additional burden is simply unacceptable.

So, what can you do to make a difference?
Please join us in making our collective voice heard as an industry. Respond to this vital Call For Action (CFA) by clicking the button below, which will allow you to send a message to Commissioner Mike Causey, urging him to reject this cash grab on the part of insurance companies. Tell your REALTOR® colleagues to do the same!

Can your clients also respond?
Many of you may wish to involve your clients and non-REALTOR® friends in this important cause, and that's great! They must respond to the public CFA initiated by the NC Homeowners Alliance. Please forward this link to your clients: https://www.votervoice.net/NCRealtor/Campaigns/110324/Respond

What if you're still unsure?
We recognize that addressing the rising costs of homeowners' insurance rates is a complex issue without any one clear solution. Some of you have even expressed concerns about whether this CFA is the right thing to do. What is extremely concerning about this increase is the exorbitant request amount. In some areas near the coast, a proposed increase of over 90 percent will make it too cost-restrictive for most buyers to purchase a home and too expensive for many homeowners to keep their home.

I encourage you to visit the NC REALTORS® CFA Resource Hub and explore our FAQs, my press release on the matter and other resources that provide a comprehensive explanation of NC REALTORS®' approach to addressing this request.

I hope you will consider responding to the NC REALTORS® CFA, encourage your REALTOR® friends to do the same, and engage your clients in responding to the public CFA.

Sincerely,
Tony Harrington
2024 NC REALTORS® President
